Advisers

​

The Principal is always Adviser of MRC and, hence, Adviser to the President. He is assisted by a number of Fellows and Resident Officers, who act as advisers for Mahallah activities.

 

As the Adviser to the President, the Principal is responsible not only to provide sufficient advice to the President on his duties and responsibilities towards the College and the University, but also to oversee the drive of MRC itself, control its administrative and financial activities, and oversee development, discipline, and welfare of residents of the College.

 

President Muizz took the presidency of Mahallah as-Siddiq during the principality of Dr. Muhamad Fuzi. His principality, however, ended at the end of June 2015. Associate Professor Dr. Hanafi took the principality at the following month. Therefore, most of times of Muizz Administration took place during the principality of Dr. Hanafi.

Dr. Muhamad Fuzi bin Omar

Dr. Muhamad Fuzi was the longest-serving Principal of IIUM as-Siddiq College. He entered such office in 2007 in place of Mr. Mohd. Senu Awang and left such office in 30 June 2015 following the University's decision to limit Principal's term to three years. Instead of teaching political science, he is currently Deputy Dean (Student Affairs) of Kulliyyah of Islamic Revealed Knowledge and Human Sciences.

He entered IIUM in 1992 as a student and obtained two Bachelor's degrees in Fiqh and Usul al-Fiqh and Political Science in 1995 and 1996 respectively. He later remain in IIUM as an academician, and obtained Master's degree in Political Science in 1999 and degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Political Science in 2007. As an academician, some of key contributions to Malaysia have been studies of student leadership development and system of government.

Prior to becoming the College Principal, he was a Fellow of Mahallah al-Faruq for some years. Under his principality, Mahallah as-Siddiq has recorded numerous successes, including sports, international humanitarian development and entrepreneurship. Under his principality, Mahallah as-Siddiq became overall champion of IIUM Sports Carnival for many times, the last being in 2013.

Under his principality, and during Muizz Administration, the following University staff members have served as Fellows and Resident Officers of Mahallah as-SiddiqBr. Mazfullah bin Maidin; Br. Ahmad Suhairi bin Mat Jebah; Br. Hj. Nik Hziman bin Nik Mat; Dr. Mohd. Shahnan bin Zainal Abidin; Br. Wan Mohd. Ashmirullah bin Wan Abdullah; Dr. Ahmed Ragheb Ahmed Mahmoud; Br. Muhammad bin Muda.

Associate Professor Dr. Hanafi bin Hj. Dollah

Dr. Hanafi is the Principal of IIUM as-Siddiq College since 1 July 2015, and Chairman of IIUM Usrah Mahallah Board (formerly IIUM Usrah Mahallah System) since 1 September 2016. 

 

Prior to joining IIUM in 1992, he obtained Bachelor's degree in Arabic language from Al-Azhar University in Cairo, Egypt in the previous year. He further obtained Master's degree in Arabic as a Second Language from IIUM in 1995 and the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Arabic Language at the University of Jordan in Amman, Jordan, in 1999. 

 

As an expert of Arabic lexicography, he has contributed to the development of Arabic language dictionaries in Malaysia. "Kamus al-Khalil" is one of famous Arabic dictionaries published in Malaysia and used in Islamic secondary schools and colleges all over Malaysia. The recent contribution he has made has been the development of a mobile application containing Arabic-Malay-English dictionary of Islamic banking and finance.

 

Prior to becoming College Principal, he was a Fellow of Mahallah Ali and Mahallah al-Faruq in previous years. He was also Deputy Dean of Research Management Centre. Under his principality, Mahallah as-Siddiq has succeeded in numerous field, including diplomacy and foreign relations, student political development, and Islamic development.

 

In September 2016, he led a group of Mahallah as-Siddiq resident leaders and IIUM Usrah Mahallah leaders in initiating Usrah Mahallah reform for the University, which has been successful on 6 February 2017 following the Deputy Rector's consent towards the Declaration on Usrah Mahallah, which allows the University to establish four Usrah Mahallah bodies at both the University and College levels and even more improvements in tracking Usrah Mahallah performance and support of the progress of Islamisation of the University.

Awang Abdul Muizz has ended his service as the President of IIUM as-Siddiq College on 1 February 2017.
